The magnificent interior of the Duomo cathedral in Siena. This mixture of Romanesque and Gothic architecture dates from the 1300s. We were lucky to be there in September, when the beautiful marble floor with its inlaid mosaics is revealed each year. In the church, no flash photography or tripods were permitted, but I had brought along a fast f1.8 50mm lens, which was very useful for handheld shots of dark interiors like this.
